The Process
How a Story Group Works
A simple process that anyone can lead.
1
Pray
Open the gathering with prayer.
2
Worship
Sing or worship together.
3
Review
Reconnect with the previous story.
- What did you learn last time we met?
- Can anyone retell the story from last time?
4
Celebrate Obedience
Share how God has been at work.
- Were you able to share a Bible story with anyone since we last met?
- How did you obey what you learned last time we met?
5
New Story
Hear and internalize a new story together.
- Tell or listen to the story 2 times out loud.
- As a group, retell the story piece by piece.
- Act out the story.
6
Practice
Strengthen retention through paired retelling.
- Pair up and retell half the story to each other.
- Pair up with a new person and retell the whole story.
7
Story Questions
Reflect and apply together.
- What did you like about that story?
- Is there anything you didn't understand or like about the story?
- What does this story teach us about God or Jesus?
- What does this story teach us about man?
- After hearing this story, is there anything you need to believe?
- After hearing this story, what do you need to do or change in your life?
8
Commissioning Prayer
Send one another out with purpose.
- Who will you tell this story to? When? Pray for them.
