Zacchaeus

Read

One day Jesus came to a place and there was a large crowd that was following him. And there was a man named Zacchaeus there. He collected taxes from people, and he became very rich because he would collect more money than he was supposed to and cheat people.

Well, Zacchaeus tried to get a look at Jesus as he passed by, but he was so short he couldn’t see over the crowd. So, he ran ahead and climbed a tree so he could watch Jesus as we walked by.

Well, when Jesus came by, he looked up in the tree at Zacchaeus and said, “Zacchaeus, get down. I’m going to stay at your home.”

He was so excited and hurried and got down. But the crowd was mad and they said, “I can’t believe he’s going to this terrible person’s house.”

And Zacchaeus stopped and said to Jesus, “Lord, I’ll give half of everything I own to the poor. And if I’ve cheated people on their taxes, I’ll repay them 4 times as much.”

Jesus responded, “Salvation really has come to this house today. See, I came to look for people who are truly lost and to save them from their sins and change their lives.”
