The Man and Woman Sin

Read

The man and woman lived in the garden God made. In this garden there were many delicious fruits. And there was also a certain tree to know the difference between good and evil.

God told the man and woman, “You can eat any fruit you want in the garden. But don’t eat the fruit on the tree to know the difference between good and evil. If you eat it, you’ll die.”

One day a snake came to the woman and said, “Did God say you can’t eat any fruit in the garden?” The woman replied, “God told us we can eat the fruit of any tree. But we’re not allowed to eat the fruit on the tree to know the difference between good and evil. If we eat it, we will die. Then the snake said, “You’re not going to die. In fact, if you eat it, you’ll be just like God. That’s why He told you not to eat this fruit.”

Then the woman thought about what the snake said, and she wanted this knowledge the fruit could give her. So, she ate it. Then she gave some to the man beside her, and he also ate it.

Now before, the man and the woman were naked, but they didn’t know they were naked. But after they ate the fruit, they immediately knew they were naked and were embarrassed and ashamed.

Well, sometime later God came into the garden, and the man and the woman were afraid, and hid among the trees. Then God called out, “Hey, where are you?” Finally, the man came and told God everything the 2 of them had done. And of course he blamed the woman for everything. Then the woman herself blamed the snake for everything.

And so, God punished them 1 by 1. He told the woman, “You’re going to suffer a lot of pain during childbirth.” And to the man, He said, “You’re going to struggle a lot to get food.” Lastly, God told them, “And one day, you are going to die.”

Then God kicked the man and woman out of the garden. From then on, there was sin suffering in the world. But God had compassion on them, and He continued to help them in their lives.
