Jesus Feeds 5,000

Read

One day Jesus and His closest followers got in a boat and tried to go off to a quiet place to get some rest. But a large crowd of about 5,000 men and their families saw them and met them at their destination.

When Jesus saw the crowd, he was filled with compassion because they were like sheep without purpose and direction in life and they needed a shepherd. So, he began teaching them many things about God.

As it started getting late in the day, Jesus’ closest followers came up to Him and said, “We need to send everyone away so they can go get something to eat.”

Jesus said, “You give something to eat.” And they were like, “With what? Do you know how much money it would cost to buy this many people food?!”

And Jesus replied, “Well, go and see how much bread you can find.” So, they came back and told Him, “We have 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish, that’s it.”

Then Jesus took the bread and fish and thanked God for them. And He began breaking the bread into pieces and started handing them to the closest followers to give to the people. And he kept handing it to them and handing it to them and it just never ran out. And then in the same way He divided up the fish and gave everyone fish to eat.

And out of those 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish, the thousands of people there ate as much as they wanted and even had lots of leftovers.
