Rich Young Ruler

One day a rich man who was very religious came to Jesus and asked him, “Teacher, what do I need to do so my sins will be cleansed and I can live in heaven forever?”

Jesus replied, “You know what God has commanded – don’t kill people, don’t steal, don’t commit adultery, honor your mom and dad.

And the man said, “Yes, I’ve obeyed all these things since I was a kid.”

Jesus looked at the man with compassion and said, “True, but there’s still one thing you haven’t done. Go and sell everything you own and give it to the poor. Then come follow me.”

When the man heard this, he was shattered and he walked away depressed because he was really rich.

And Jesus looked at his closest followers and said, “It is really hard for a rich man to get into God’s kingdom. In fact, it would be easier for a camel to fit through the eye of a needle.”

Everyone was shocked at what Jesus said, and his closest followers asked Him, “Well, who can actually have his sins cleansed and live in heaven forever then?!”

Jesus said, “There is nothing a person can do. It’s impossible. But God can do anything, nothing is impossible for Him.”
